How to Support

Here's the situation

We currently do a lot, but are only funded for about 29% of all our activities. Indigenous grassroots participation in our programs and services far outstrips our funding and support each year. In 2022, our Indigenous site visits grew by over 350%! We achieve amazing results, but this path is not sustainable, we need more partnership and support.

How you can help

  • Support us to get our own charity off the ground
  • Directly support us with grant money or in-kind contributions
  • Fund training program, or community days, or our food production
  • If you are a Nation, partner with us on training and land-based programming

Please navigate through this site to see a variety of ways we can be supported!

Most needed supports

  • Core funding, or multi-year program support
  • Support to develop our programming, staff, and site
  • Support to continue and expand existing Indigenous training and food sovereignty training

How funds flow

  • Through a Nation partner to our programming and services (you fund a Nation, they hire Tea Creek or IFSA)
  • Directly to Tea Creek, our social enterprise
  • Through Indigenous Food Sovereignty Assn, our Non-profit
  • Through Raven Impact, an Indigenous charity based in Victoria BC, or other charity

Where the money goes

As of October 2022 monies are spent this way:

  • 43% to wages - including staff, instructors, honourariums, trainee living allowances, and other support people.
  • 32% to site costs including running the farm and overhead costs
  • 20% program supplies, meals costs, and expenses including participant support
  • 2% Travel
  • 1% Site Improvements
  • 2% other including professional development

Examples of how you can support on this site

  • Fund-a-field - adopt a field block at Tea Creek. This will pay for farmer wages and input costs.
  • Fund a skills training cohort or program.
  • Support expansion of infrastructure to free up bottlenecks such as our lack of a food hub and root cellars.
  • Support land-based healing, health, and wellness programming
  • Support employment and self-employment readiness programs and cohorts
  • Fund community days at Tea Creek
  • Lots more ideas on this site!
